This 2-hour webinar provides a broad introduction to how archaeologists use isotope analysis of biological materials to understand the past.

Aimed at researchers, heritage management professionals, and students who are curious about isotope analysis but have no previous experience with it, the webinar starts with the question "what is an isotope?" and guides participants through the theory and practice of the four most common types of isotope analysis applied in bioarchaeological research: carbon, nitrogen, strontium, and oxygen.

After completing the webinar, participants will understand how bioarchaeological isotope analysis works, how the results of isotope analysis are presented and interpreted, and how isotope analysis can add value to both academic and commercial projects. After completing the webinar, a Continuing Professional Development certificate can be provided to participants upon request.
